David is the University’s Maths and Stats Adviser. He has a Master’s Degree in Maths and Physics from Durham University, with a particular interest in Theoretical Physics. After a brief stint working in Insurance and later as a Teaching Assistant, he trained and worked as a Maths and Physics teacher in Manchester specialising in post-16 provision.
Originally from Stowmarket, David returned home to Suffolk and took up his current post as Maths and Stats Advisor in October 2021. Since then, he has provided Maths and Stats support throughout the University and is currently working on widening the range of Asynchronous Maths support available for students.
David has a PGCE in Physics with Maths from The University of Manchester. He specialises in teaching post-16 students, particularly A-Level Maths and Physics. He is qualified to teach Maths and Physics in the 11-19 age range.
Between his third and fourth years at Durham, David completed a research project Mathematically modelling deformation of the Optic Nerve Head in Glaucoma Patients.
During his final year at Durham, David completed his final year project on “Fuzzballs, Firewalls and The Evolution of Universes” where he researched a Quantum Description of Black Holes using String Theory, and the potential Cosmological ramifications of this.
