Dr Ellen Buck is Director of Learning and Teaching at the ¹ú²úÊÓƵ. As Director of Learning and Teaching, Ellen is a member of our University’s Senior Leadership Team and has a strategic role in the enhancement of learning, teaching and assessment across the institution. She also has responsibility for the University’s Library and Learning Services provision and the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching.
Ellen is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is a member of the Advance HE Strategic Advisory Group for Teaching and Learning.
Ellen has led the University’s work in the development of a bold new block and blend pedagogy.
She is currently supervising two PhD students.
Ellen’s research interests focuses on innovation in learning and teaching including learning design, the use of technology and block and blend. She also writes in relation to the development of identity as learner, and as professional – particularly the professional identity. of librarians.
Ellen has recently participated in a panel discussing the digital transformation of education at the Online Educa Berlin (OEB) Conference, and has delivered at the Digital Leaders Conference on delivering learning through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ellen works as part of the Advance HE Strategic Advisory Group for Teaching and Learning and has Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. She is Chair of the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching for the ¹ú²úÊÓƵ. Ellen is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute for Library and Information Professionals (CILIP).
